List of Canon MP258 printer error codes and problem solving part 1

Still discussing about Canon MP258 printer, in this post I will share list of Canon MP258 error codes and the problem solving guide. Before we continue to the error codes list, first you must know that there are two error types in this printer :

• The error that started with P letter, for example P07
• The error that started with E letter, for example E05

For the first, let us start with P letter error.

 

Canon MP258

 

 

P02 (Carriage Error)

Problem solving :

1. Make sure there is no foreign object in the printer's roll
2. Clean and check the printer's encoder, may be exposed to splashing ink

P03 (Line feed error)

Cause : The timing disk is dirty/damage

Problem solving :

1. Check the timing disk sensor in the left side
2. Check and clean the board

P05 (ASF sensor error)

Cause : There is an error to the paper detector

Problem solving : 

1. Check the ASF/PE sensor unit
2. Check the motor
3. Finally check the board of Canon MP258

P06 (Internal temperature error)

Cause : Overheat in the Canon MP258

Problem solving : 

1. Clean the printer
2. Replace the printer main board

P07 (Ink Absorber Full)

Cause : Ink counter full

Problem solving : 

1. Reset the Canon MP258 printer using the resetter software

P08 (Print head temperature rise error)

Cause : Printer head overheated, usually for the color cartridge

Problem solving : 

1. Replace the color cartridge of Canon MP258 printer

P09 (Eeprom error)

Cause : Eeprom in the main board error

Problem solving : 

1. Replace the main board

P10 (Logic board/Carriage unit)

Cause : The printer cartridge leaved empty and used to print continously, it result an overheat in one of these component : logic board, carriage unit.

Problem solving : 

1. Replace the logic board or carriage unit one by one. The problem also can be occured to the cartridges, black and color.

P15 (USB VBUS over current)

Cause : The printer receive the over current from the USB printer cable

Problem solving : 

1. Replace the USB cable first
2. Replace the main board if the first step doesn't work

P20 (Other hardware error)

Cause : There are damaged in another hardware

Problem solving : 

1. Replace the Canon MP258 printer main board

P22 (Scanner error)

Cause : Scanner doesn't work

Problem solving : 

1. Replace the scanner of Canon MP258 printer
2. Replace the main board
